What is Available In Petersburg

Many people making their first adventure into Alaska expect to arrive in a very
small village where the only way to get what you need is to bring it with you. This is just
a stereotype and completely opposite of what is true. Because people can not just
drive to the next town to get something, Petersburg has stores that carry nearly everything that is
needed. A town of equal size in the Lower 48 wouldn't have much of what is
available here. We have two major grocery stores with companion hardware stores,
which stock all of the needed food and camping supplies. Fishing and hunting supplies
are also carried at these hardware stores. We have two gas stations, which carry the gas
and diesel needed for any motor or stoves. Petersburg has two marine companies who carry
boats, motors, and all needed supplies and accessories. These marine suppliers will also
rent outboards for people visiting,along with the needed fuel, oil, and a small tool kit.
Petersburg has multiple clothing stores where a person can find outdoor clothes, indoor clothes,
underwear, bags, hats, etc… There are also two nice hotels, which also rent cars, many
souvenir/gift shops, two major bank branches, and five decent restaurants with all types
of food.
